On the Table #34

Games Workshop had one of those weeks where three ranges get overhauled almost at once — Orks, Ogor Mawtribes and Middle-earth all landed within days of each other. On top of that, Necromunda returned with a brand new edition, and an 85-miniature Zombicide box got a retail date.

Codex: Orks Kicks Off the New Edition

The first codex of the new Warhammer 40,000 edition goes up for pre-order on 22 August — and it brings a proper green tide of new plastic with it.

Orks were always going to be an early pick for the new edition, and Games Workshop clearly agreed. The book itself is only half the story: alongside the codex comes one of the largest single Ork model waves in years, plus a handful of kits that were previously locked inside the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon box and are now available on their own. If you have been waiting to start a Waaagh!, this is the week the door opens wide.

  • 15 Detachments, an expanded Waaagh! army rule and datasheets for more than 50 units
  • A new multipart Warboss with a choice of Kustom Choppa or Power Klaw, Kustom Shoota, Kombi-Rokkit or Kombi-Skorcha, an Attack Squig and swappable heads
  • Nazdreg, the Bad Moons warlord, with his Moonchewa Power Klaw and the Kustom Blasta X
  • A new Mek, complete with crane
  • Reworked Boyz — every kit now comes with shoota, slugga and choppa, three special weapon options (Big Shoota, Rokkit Launcha, Burna) and a Nob with Power Klaw
  • New Warbikers with dakkaguns and a Kombi-Rokkit option, plus a reworked Trukk with Grabbin' Klaw, Buzzsaw and Spiked Ram
  • Orks Command Pack: 94 reference cards covering all 15 Detachments, plus 36 double-sided markers
  • A Collector's Edition hardback with gold foil, green foil edging and a ribbon marker, while stocks last
  • Solo releases from the Armageddon box: Big Mek Dakkarig, Weirdboy, Wartrakk and the Kommand Krew (Bannernob, Bigboss, Painboy with grot)
  • A 16-dice set in speckled green with red pips
  • Some kits are delayed in Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand

An Ork army is the textbook definition of "more models than box space" — dozens of infantry, a pile of bikes and a Trukk that refuses to fit anywhere sensible. If your green tide is about to grow, our Ork foam trays are built for exactly that mix: Foam trays for Orks.

Ogor Mawtribes Get the Full Treatment

Thirteen Ogor products went up for pre-order in a single Saturday — this is a complete range refresh, not a top-up.

Age of Sigmar's biggest eaters have been waiting a long while for this. The wave covers heroes, core units, cavalry and beasts all at once, which means an entire army can now be built from new kits rather than a patchwork of old and new. Everything went live on 15 August, with Australia and New Zealand running behind on delivery.

  • Morga the Mighty, Tyrant on Glutthorn
  • Redd the Maw and Grell Firefist
  • Tyrant and Butcher
  • Ironguts and Gluttons
  • Cleavers / Gutseers
  • Maulbeast Raiders and Maulbeast Cavalry
  • Hunters with Sabrefangs, and the Mantrapper
  • Okar's Torrbad as a Regiment of Renown
  • Destruction Battletome: Ogor Mawtribes, also available as a Gamer's Edition
  • An Ogor dice set
  • The previously delayed Ogor Mawtribes Army Set is now available to pre-order in Australia and New Zealand

Ogors are the classic case where standard foam depths simply run out — these are tall, wide models, and the Maulbeast cavalry needs even more headroom. Our Ogor trays are cut with that bulk in mind: Foam trays for Ogor Mawtribes.

Three New Battlehosts for Middle-earth

Rohan, Mirkwood and Dol Guldur each get a boxed force of thirty-plus models, with free rules downloads thrown in.

Battlehost boxes have quietly become the easiest way into the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, and this trio keeps that going. Each box pairs named characters with enough rank and file to actually play, and Games Workshop is releasing free rules for each one alongside an updated Quickstart Rules Guide. A pre-order date has not been announced yet.

  • Rohan Battlehost: Théoden on foot or mounted, 6 Riders of Rohan, 24 Warriors of Rohan
  • Mirkwood Battlehost: Legolas, Tauriel, 20 Palace Guards, 20 Mirkwood Rangers
  • Dol Guldur Battlehost: Bolg on foot or on a Fell Warg, 6 Fell Wargs with Hunter Orcs, 24 Hunter Orcs on foot
  • Free rules downloads for each box
  • Updated Quickstart Rules Guide

Thirty-plus models straight out of a single box — including cavalry and wargs, which never sit flat next to infantry. If one of these forces is heading your way, here is where to put it: Foam trays for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.

Necromunda Returns With a New Edition

The Necromunda: Skirmish Core Set hit shelves on 15 August and rebuilds the game from the ground up.

The underhive has been running on the same edition for a long time, so a fresh core set is a genuine reset point. The box leans hard into the two most recognisable houses and comes with everything needed to run a campaign out of the gate — including the sort of card and token pile that tends to end up loose in the bottom of a box after game three.

  • 8 House Escher Gangers and 8 House Goliath Bruisers
  • A new gaming board with burst-pipe terrain
  • The full Core Rulebook, plus Gang Tactics and Campaign Scenario cards
  • Starter Guide and building instructions
  • 54 condition and status markers
  • A folding tape measure, dice and templates
  • RRP according to retail listings: £98 / €130 / $165
  • New House Goliath miniatures and rules were revealed alongside the set

Gangs are small enough that a full collection travels in one compact case — and the markers and cards benefit just as much from a proper home as the miniatures do: Foam trays for Necromunda.

DCeased Brings 85 Miniatures to Retail

CMON's DC-themed Zombicide game arrives in shops on 11 September, and the component list is enormous.

DCeased started life as a crowdfunding project and is now making the jump to general retail. It is a cooperative game for up to six players, running around 60 minutes, in which DC heroes face down victims of the Anti-Life virus. The Zombicide line has already grown to include Gotham Knights and Arkham Asylum, so this is unlikely to be the last box in the family.

  • 85 miniatures
  • 9 double-sided board sections
  • 122 mini cards
  • 6 plastic dashboards
  • 6 dice plus a tracker die
  • Tokens and ID cards
  • Cooperative, ages 14+, roughly 60 minutes
  • Retail release: 11 September 2026

Eighty-five miniatures in a single retail box is exactly the situation an organizer is made for — sorted by character, ready to play in seconds instead of minutes: Organizers and foam trays for Zombicide.

On Our Radar

SPIEL Essen 2026: the hall plans are online.

This year's SPIEL runs from 22 to 25 October at Messe Essen, and the floor plans have just been published. The headline change is a brand new Hall 8, home to Allplay, Denkriesen, HABA, Helvetiq, Jumbo, Mattel and Noris/Zoch among others. Trading card games move out of Halls 1 and 2 into Hall 5, which also gains a fourth entrance from the north. Hall 4 picks up an additional food area, and Hall 2 makes room for more family game publishers. Worth a look now if you like to plan your route before you arrive.
