On the Table #39
Oct 13, 2026
Two weeks of news in one issue: skeleton cavalry for The Old World, two Blood Bowl legends in plastic, a tournament-packed fortnight for 40K, and a crowdfunding calendar that is bursting at the seams.
Skeleton Horsemen Ride Into The Old World
Games Workshop has revealed a new plastic cavalry kit for the undead armies of The Old World.
The multipart kit contains ten miniatures that can be built either as Skeleton Horsemen or as Skeleton Horse Archers. Horsemen can be armed with cavalry spears or swords plus shields, and interchangeable heads allow for plenty of variety. The ten models can be fielded as one big unit or as two units of five, and each set of five has enough parts for a full command section.
- 10 plastic cavalry miniatures per kit
- Build as Skeleton Horsemen or Skeleton Horse Archers
- Champion, musician and banner bearer included for each unit of five
- Rules in Warhammer: The Old World – Ravening Hordes
Release date and price have not been announced yet; Games Workshop only says the riders will arrive "soon". Cavalry units like this deserve a safe place to ride in, so our Tomb Kings of Khemri trays are ready for the new arrivals.
Ripper Bolgrot and Fungus the Loon Take the Pitch
Two classic Blood Bowl Star Players are coming back as brand-new plastic miniatures.
Ripper Bolgrot, the stone troll who returned from "sports therapy" a lot sharper than before, is now a free agent. His skill Thinking Man's Troll lets him re-roll one die once per half (excluding Armour, Injury and Casualty rolls). Fungus the Loon, the Night Goblin Fanatic, is guided towards the pitch and known for the chaos he leaves behind. His skill Whirling Dervish lets him re-roll the D6 that decides his movement direction once per Activation. Both will be joined by a new Night Goblins team.
Pre-orders are promised "soon", with no date yet. If your team collection keeps growing, take a look at our Blood Bowl trays and cases.
A Packed Tournament Fortnight for Warhammer 40,000
Orks, Space Marines and World Eaters have been busy on the tournament tables.
At Battle for Salvation, 131 players battled through eight rounds. John Lennon took the title at 7-1 with a combined Ultramarines and Deathwatch force, beating Sam Pope and his World Eaters (with a whopping 70 Khorne Berzerkers) in the final round. In Spain, GT Madrid drew 228 players in six-player teams, and Wargames Adictos came out on top. And at Dragon Fall 2026, Jonah Navin's 5-0 Orks won the army lists crown barely a month after the new Ork codex reached the tables.
- Battle for Salvation: 131 players, 8 rounds, winner John Lennon (7-1)
- GT Madrid: 228 players in teams of six, won by Wargames Adictos (4-0-1)
- Dragon Fall 2026: undefeated Ork list one month after the codex release
Whether you are heading to your next GT or just to your club night, a well-organised army makes the trip easier. You will find the right gear in our Warhammer 40,000 range.
Crowdfunding Corner: Nemesis, Satisfactory and More
It is a busy autumn for crowdfunded board games.
Awaken Realms' Nemesis: Legacy, the first campaign-style Nemesis game, launched on Gamefound on October 6 and had passed 4.8 million euros at last count. On October 13, Satisfactory: The Board Game (MOOD Publishing) followed on Gamefound, a competitive engine-builder for one to four players based on the video game, and Cranio Creations opened Lorenzo il Magnifico: A New Renaissance. Other big campaigns are still running, including The Lord of the Rings: The King's Gambit and the Heroes of Might and Magic III expansions, each well past 1.6 million euros.
- Nemesis: Legacy (Awaken Realms, Gamefound): over 4.8 million euros
- Satisfactory: The Board Game (MOOD Publishing, Gamefound): launched October 13
- The Lord of the Rings: The King's Gambit (Restoration Games, Kickstarter): over 1.6 million euros
- Heroes of Might and Magic III expansions (Archon Studio, Gamefound): over 1.6 million euros
Funding figures are as of mid-October and can change quickly. Big boxes full of tokens, cards and miniatures love a good insert, and you will find ours in our organizers and foam for board games.
On Our Radar
Warhammer Tone Pro paints. Games Workshop's new paint range is available to pre-order since October 10 and arrives on October 24. The paints come in pots rather than dropper bottles, and the 'Eavy Metal team has been showing them off in a series of colour features.
SPIEL Essen, October 22-25. For the first time ever, all eight halls of Messe Essen will be in use, with 81,200 square meters of space, around 921 exhibitors from 53 countries and more than 1,500 new titles expected. Up to 230,000 visitors are forecast. We will be there as visitors this year; who knows, maybe we will cross paths again there next year. See you in the aisles!
Industry notes. Mantic Games is releasing Warpath Universe: Command Protocols, an expansion book for Deadzone, Firefight and Epic Warpath, with pre-orders opening on November 2. Wizards of the Coast will change the contents of its Magic collector boosters in early 2027, including new "god packs" and no more foil commons and uncommons. And CMON is giving up ownership of The Adventurers so that the delayed project can finally be delivered to its backers.
